Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has
canceled licenses of 68 internet provider providers (ISPs) and cyber
cafes.
BTRC director of legal and licensing division MA Taleb Hossain issued
the order on Wednesday (February 1) on the charge of failing to renew
licenses after expiration.
According to BRTC, the ISPs including cyber cafes have to apply for renewal of their license before the date of expiration.
But, those 68 service providers including cyber cafes did not apply
for renewal of their license even after the date of expiration ended.
As per Bangladesh Telecommunication Act-2001, this is a punishable offense and this is why the commission came up with the move.
The service providers were ordered to pay all the dues within a
month, otherwise necessary legal action will be taken according to
Bangladesh Telecommunication Act-2001 and Public Demands Recovery
Act-1993, the order said.
